This famous view is taken from Priory Corner on Portland. It is one of the most greatest examples in the world of a geological formation called a Tombolo - that is the connection of an island to the mainland by means of a spit. That spit is called Chesil Beach. Map |
| This is the beautiful view of Poole Harbour from the west side of the harbour - this beautiful beach is known as Shipstal Point. The two islands are called Furzey and Green, and much of the area here is kept as a nature reserve by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. Map | ![]() |

The famous Old Harry Rocks jut out from the southern tip of Studland Bay. Ideally one should photograph these rocks from the sea to see the distinct pillars that make up this phenomenon. The picture of Studland Beach on the "Beautiful Dorset" page will give you an idea of where they are in relation to the beach. Map |
