Plot Summary
Captain Sinbad, on his ship, is sent a magical amulet, which is delivered to him by a bird. As he holds it an exotic girl with an "evil eye" painted on her right hand appears before him. That night he dreams of this girl being swallowed up by a dark power in the sky.
A storm hits the ship. Sinbad wakes to find the ship has now veered way off course. The next day is a pleasant day, and Sinbad decides to go ashore onto a strange land. A dark man with a black turban (Koura) comes up to him and accuses him of having stolen the amulet. Sinbad manages to make his escape to the neighbouring town of Marabia.
Here he becomes acquainted with the town's ruler (the vizier), who is also an enemy of Prince Koura. The vizier explains how he became heir to pictures of a story that has not yet happened, and a gold tablet which, when joined with Sinbad's amulet, will help with the unravelling of a riddle when placed before the eminence in the "temple of many faces". They will provide the secret of the power to rid the world of Koura. Sinbad reinterprets the pictures as nautical charts before discovering Koura's spy, a bat, in the room. The voyage is now a race with Koura to find the remaining piece of the golden tablet.
Summoning up crew for the voyage, Sinbad comes across a trader who wishes to get his son Haroun off his hands. This guy also has a very curvaceous slave-girl (Margiana) with an "evil eye" painted on her hand. Sinbad does a deal with the trader.
On the voyage Sinbad gives Margiana her freedom, and Haroun finds that he will have to learn to work. As the ships pursue each other, Koura's magical powers give life to the female figurehead of Sinbad's boat, who terrorises the sailors before falling into the water. Koura's evil potions, however, drain his life's energies.
Landing on an island, it is not long before Sinbad and his crew find the temple of the "oracle of all knowledge". They present the two gold pieces of the amulet as a gift, and the Oracle tells them to go north for the third one. When the oracle finishes speaking, the gold pieces disappear. When they leave the temple it explodes, and the crew are stuck underground. They escape by making a rope from their turbans and cloaks which Sinbad, by means of an improvised bow and arrow, fires up to the hole.
Having escaped from here they come across another temple in which a native group are performing a tribal dance. Koura and his crew find themselves about to be sacrificed to the many-armed Hindu goddess Kali. Koura sets Kali with her six swords against Sinbad. Kali eventually falls from a precipice, relinquishing the amulet that she seems to have obtained, to Koura.
Sinbad is punished by the natives for destroying Kali. Margiana shows the natives her "evil eye" in order to bring an end to Sinbad's punishment; but they interpret this as meaning that she is the chosen sacrificial victim of their god. She is kidnapped and incarcerated in a rock cavern. Shortly after this a centaur appears and carries her off. Sinbad now frees himself, and Koura finds the remaining part of the metal puzzle.
He goes to the "fountain of destiny" and tries to propitiate the fountain by giving this last piece as an offering. Sinbad rescues Margiana and brings her to the fountain of destiny, where he has to fight off the centaur. Having succeeded, Koura manages to make himself at first partially invisible, and then totally invisible, making Sinbad's fight with him very difficult. Eventually Koura makes the mistake of reappearing within the fountain, and Sinbad is able to swipe him with his sword. The fountain now awards Sinbad with the "crown of untold riches", with which he is able to crown the vizier of Marabia.
