Japanese Background to The Mikado

Are you researching the "Miyasama Miyasama" March from Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado? (The song known to the Japanese as the Tokoton Yare Bushi)?

I have done a lot of research on the origins of this song, and in particular translated the work of a noted Japanese scholar on the subject. It was traditionally said to have been composed in the early stages of the Japanese Meiji Restoration as the imperial troops stormed Edo castle. It seems that research on the real history of this song has only recently been taken seriously by Japanese historians, and this is much more fascinating than the myth. Frankly, the information available on the web about this song is hopelessly inaccurate, including the supposed "translations".

I would be very interested in hearing from you.
